Coalface Activated Charcoal Soap
Coalface was developed for our teenage daughter, who has naturally oily skin and was dealing with the kind of breakouts that come with growing fast and playing several intensely active sports. Consistent use made a real difference. That was 13 years ago, and the recipe has not changed since.
It remains one of our bestselling bars.
Handcrafted in small batches in our Wairarapa workshop using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
What is in it
Activated Charcoal: the hero ingredient. It draws out impurities and absorbs excess oil without stripping or aggravating the skin.
Black Clay: adds a deeper cleansing action alongside the charcoal. Together, they do a thorough job while leaving skin feeling balanced.
Wairarapa Virgin Olive Oil: from a local grove just down the road, it forms the heart of this bar, bringing gentle nourishment to every wash.
Hemp Seed Oil: rich in essential fatty acids it helps rebalance and nourish the skin after cleansing.
Castor Oil: nourishes while boosting those bubbles for a lather that sticks around.
Rice Bran Oil: a quiet achiever that softens and calms and makes the whole bar feel silkier than you might expect from a deep cleansing bar.
Essential oils of Tea Tree and Litsea Cubeba round out the blend. Tea Tree brings its well-known skin-health benefits while Litsea Cubeba adds a fresh citrus-like note that lifts the whole bar.
Suitable for all skin types and gentle enough for the face and body.
